Native Plants are Hot!

There are three chances to learn about the fascinating native plants of Madison County - Jack McDowell's Prairie Appreciation Ride at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 13th; Rain Garden Design Workshop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16th; and Native Plants for Pollinators from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, July 26th.

Many of the native plants in Madison County are prairie species which thrive in the hot summer and are tolerant to drought.  Many species do very well in an urban garden or agricultural field border.  Some of my personal favorites are Royal Catchfly, Black-eye Susan, Purple Coneflower, Little Bluestem and Rose Milkweed.

Come to one or all - each event brings a new perspective.  Visit the Event Calendar for more details!
